Barbershoppers converge on Kings County
The Dukes of Kent will host a major musical event this weekend when the 2008 Barbershop Harmony Society Sunrise Division competition comes to Kings County.

Eight choruses will be involved, representing Halifax, Truro, Fredericton, St. John’s, Bedford-Sackville, Cape Breton, Dartmouth and the Dukes of Kent, and six quartets from around Atlantic Canada will compete also.

The contest goes from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at Horton District High School in Greenwich and visitors and the public are welcome.

A showcase event will be the Mass Sing-out at the County Fair Mall Friday, May 2 from 7-8 p.m. that will include competitors and words of welcome from local dignitaries.

Some 300 barbershoppers from Atlantic Canada will be in attendance for the competition.
