Get Bill Shakespeare Off the Stage!
Students at BRHS getting ready bump the bard
Bridgetown Regional High Schjool’s Drama Club is having a hoot trying to Get William Shakespeare Off the Stage and local audiences can soon see what all the fuss is about when the curtain opens May 8.
SYNOPSIS
Mr. Norton’s replacement at the local high school is a fresh new drama teacher ready to shake things up. Miss Fran Caldwell, played by Jesse Byers, is trying to do the unthinkable – replace the annual musical with a tribute to William Shakespeare.
The students don’t want change, the parents don’t want change and neither does the school board apparently. Fran is up against a formidable group. But Fran has allies at the school, Ed Summers (Mike Gillespie) the basketball coach and Mrs. Stockton (Shelby Spurr) the principal. In the midst of all the commotion, is Sherrie (Terissa Rafuse), whose mom (Beth Gavel) sees her as the next Broadway starlet. And if her situation isn’t agonizing enough, there is Tim (Colin Tanner), whose dad (Daniel Doucett) doesn’t even know he is in the drama club.
As with any high school there is enough teen-age angst to keep an audience on their toes as the students plot to teach Miss Caldwell a lesson. The student leader of the plot is Ray (Brendan Shaw) who is on the verge of losing it all and his girl Phyllis (Katie Bowers).
