At least 25 volunteers are required for a new program at Camp Peniel that will provide camp experiences to children with physical and mental challenges.
Executive director Christine Long says they are looking for 25 men and women who are

enthusiastic, compassionate, able bodied, “upbeat and energetic folk”.

“There can only be 25 campers so that each one can get the personal attention they would require and that the program will be the quality that we are envisioning,” she said.

The buddy’s will be volunteering their time for the five days of camp, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday – Friday.

“We want to match up the needs of the camper with the special abilities that the buddy would offer. I feel it’s so important they have the opportunity to experience camp life and all the joy it can bring,” said Long.

The week-long day camp will run from July 28 - August 1.

“I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, they (volunteers) would make a difference in a special child’s life and give them the gift of camp and friendship,” said Long.

Call the camp (902-649-2471) for more details and an application form.
