White Rock news

There was a gathering of youths April 23 for group time together. It was a productive night because the kids went with gloves and garbage bags. They picked up garbage on the Forsythe Road and then went for fun at the ballfield before calling it a night.
Kim Troop organized it and I’m glad someone is doing something with the kids. For any parents that are interested in having their children involved or interested in volunteering, you can call Kim Troop or me and I will hand the information over.
There are various activities to do and the children have an input on it. I know, for this night, Darrell would have been happy to see the interest from the kids. Branden played ball for the first time and I could tell he loved it. Maybe it will become a more common occurrence.
It was a busy night as well because of the fitness night at the community hall. I missed it this week because I was at the ballfield, but anyone interested in attending is welcome. It starts at 7 p.m. and goes to eight or 8:30 depending on how long you want to stay.
The community meeting was April 23 as well. I will check with the members to see what’s happening and let you know next week. I think there is a pancake breakfast in the works.
The card party for April 22 had nine tables in attendance. Joanne Wile won the women’s high as well as the 50/50. Laurie Garby won the men’s high and Francis Ray won the low for the evening. Gary Farris won the traveler and Alice Porter the door prize.
It was nice to see Ken Mitchell return after being ill. I hope he’s feeling better. From what I have been told, Ken can be a stubborn man about listening to his doctors. Take care, Ken.
April 29 is the last card party for the season. To mark the end of the season, there will be a pot luck supper at the White Rock Hall prior to the card party. It will start around 5:30 p.m. Don’t be shy; bring your favourite dish to share.

Happy birthday to Tracy Pick, who celebrated April 26. My nephew, Josh Stevens, is celebrating his birthday April 30. Charles Schofield also celebrates his birthday April 30. Happy Birthday to Karl Pick’s granddaughter Kaitland, who will celebrate May 2 and Colin Sheffield who will celebrate his eighth birthday May 4.
