House arrest, probation for sexual assault
A 70-year-old man from Belliveau's Cove was sentenced in Digby Court yesterday to four months’ house arrest after pleading guilty to sexual assault.
The court placed a publication ban on the names of the accused and his victim, a woman in her 40s from the Weymouth North area.
The assault occurred in August of last year.
The man was also placed on probation for a year and must provide DNA. He will be listed on the province’s registry of sex offenders.

Comment online since April 18th 2008It is too bad that the man's name is kept confidential. The surrounding people of the community should know who he is so that they can protect other vulnerable members of society and feel more safe.
