Mariners drop game four in Amherst; game five goes Sunday in Yarmouth
The (4)Amherst Ramblers (4-3) edged the (1)Yarmouth Mariners (3-1) 4-3 in overtime Friday night in Amherst In Game # 4 of the Bent Division Semi-Final # 1 Series.
With the win, the Ramblers now trail the best of 7 series 3-1.
Andrew Oakley led Amherst with 2 goals and 1 assist while Danny Anger led Yarmouth with 2 goals.
Matthew Squires (shorthanded) opened the scoring at 17:40 to give the Ramblers a 1-0 lead after the first period. Oakley (powerplay) scored 43 seconds into the middle frame to extend the lead to 2-0. Anger (powerplay) scored at 9:30 to cut the lead in half at 2-1. Jamie Klie (powerplay) scored at 17:02 to tie the score 2-2 after the second period. Anger (second goal of game) scored at 10:43 to give the Mariners a 3-2 lead. Adam Chipman scored with 1:30 remaining in regulation at 18:30 to deadlock the score at 3-3 and force overtime. In the extra period, Colin Feehan (unassisted, game winner) scored at 7:12 for the win.
Amherst went 2 for 10 on the powerplay while Yarmouth went 2 for 8.
Andrew Flemming stopped 32 of 35 shots for the win while Jocelyn Morrissette stopped 29 of 33 shots in the loss.
Game # 5 in this series takes place on Sunday night at the Mariners Center in Yarmouth. Game time is set for 7:30pm.
