Well, the time has changed and this is the week spring arrives. The question is does spring arrive by way of the day of the month only or will it also be reflected in the weather. I hope the weather is part of it, but as we all know the snow won’t be gone completely for a while yet.

Congratulations to all the hockey teams that participated in tournaments recently. I know they all worked hard and deserve to be recognized for it.

Dryden Schofield and his team competed for the gold medal March 11 and lost in overtime. Congratulations to them for winning silver and playing well.

Branden Schofield and his team played in a tournament for the Novice division March 10-11 and won three of the four games they played. Everyone played well and it was a joy for the parents to watch.

Dylan Schofield and his team participated, along with other Quickstart and IP teams, in the Hannah Miller Memorial tournament at Acadia March 9. Everyone had fun and showed what they have learned over the year.

Congratulations to all of the other hockey players I didn’t mention by name; it’s a sport that requires hard work and a lot of heart.

Now, on to another sport; cards! The card party for March 11 had eight tables in attendance. Edna Roach won the women’s high while Barb Davidson won the low for the evening. Leo Spinney won the men’s high.

The 50/50 went to Lola Horner and Francis Ray won the door prize. The traveler went to Howard Coldwell.

Thank you again to all of the volunteers that help out with set up and lunches.

Congratulations to Kalee Whiston and Joshua Cudmore on their engagement and upcoming wedding May 17. Kalee is the daughter of Darren and Wanda Whiston, White Rock, and Joshua is the son of John and Sandra Cudmore, Black River.

Following their marriage, they are moving to Sicamous, B.C., where Joshua will begin his new job as Herds Manager at the D Dutchman Dairy June 1. There will be a Community Wedding Shower for Kalee and Joshua at the White Rock Community Hall Sunday, March 30 at 2 p.m.

Happy birthday to Valerie Harris, who will celebrate March 19, and Valerie’s mom, Millie Whiston, celebrates her birthday March 21. On March 23, Gertie Hiltz will celebrate her 102nd birthday; congratulations.

Birthday wishes go out to my niece, Bobbie Jo Pick, who will celebrate March 22.

Registration for swimming lessons at Acadia will take place April 5 starting at 8 a.m. You can register by calling in or by going to the Acadia box office.

With swimming registration, soccer registration will be taking place soon as well. I’ll let you know as soon as I have some dates to report.

Acadia is also offering a summer hockey league for those of you that are interested. It would start in August and run to the middle of September. There are different levels and age groups available.

If you’re interested in signing your child up, you can call the Acadia box office for more information.

Just a reminder there’s a Community Bean and Scallop supper coming soon to the White Rock Hall; keep your ears open for the date.

I think that’s all to report for now. If I missed anything, I’m sorry. Just call or e-mail me and remind me and I will be sure to put it in next week. Have a great week everyone.
