Mariners hammer Ramblers to take 2-0 series lead
The (1)Yarmouth Mariners (2-0) dumped the (4)Amherst Ramblers (3-2) 9-3 Monday night in Amherst in Game # 2 of the Bent Semi-Final # 1 Series.

With the win, the Mariners lead the best of 7 series 2-0.

Ryan Penney led the Mariners with 3 goals with Itan Chavira adding 1 goal and 2 assists while Brent Lynch led the Ramblers with 1 goal and 2 assists.

Chavira (powerplay) opened the scoring at 1:28 to give the Mariners an early 1-0 lead. Lee Denny scored at 16:57 to tie the game 1-1 after the first period. Jamie Klie (powerplay) scored at 4:37 to regain the lead for Yarmouth at 2-1. Doug Doyle scored at 7:40 to deadlock the score at 2-2 until Justin Saulnier scored 18 seconds later at 7:58 to give the Mariners the lead once more at 3-2. Alexandre Soucy (game winner) scored at 14:46 to extend the lead to 4-2. Jordan Scott scored at 17:06 to increase the lead to 5-2. Cody Lefrancois (powerplay) scored at 18:18 to widen the lead to 6-2 after the second period. Penney (powerplay) scored at 1:16 to extend the lead to 7-2. Penney (powerplay, second goal of game) scored again, 44 seconds later at 2:00 to make the score 8-2. Lynch (unassisted) scored 57 seconds after that at 2:57 to get one back for the Ramblers making the score 8-3. Penney (third goal of game) rounded out the scoring at 16:58.

Yarmouth went 5 for 9 on the powerplay while Amherst went 0 for 7.

Jocelyn Morrissette stopped 18 of 21 shots for the win while Andrew Flemming (42:00) stopped 32 of 40 shots in the loss before being relieved by Patrick O'Brien. O'Brien (18:00) stopped 13 of 14 shots the rest of the way.

Game # 3 in this series takes place on Wednesday night at 7:30pm at the Mariners Center in Yarmouth.
