Mariners open playoffs with a win
The (1)Yarmouth Mariners (1-0) blanked the (4)Amherst Ramblers (3-1) 4-0 Saturday night in Yarmouth in Game # 1 of the best of 7 Bent Division Semi-Final # 1.

With the win, the Mariners lead the series 1-0.

Ryan Penney led the Mariners with 1 goal and 1 assist.

Penney (game winner) opened the scoring at 10:17 to give the Mariners a 1-0 lead after the first period. Alexandre Soucy scored at 8:49 to extend the lead to 2-0 after the second period. Jamie Klie (powerplay) scored at 13:46 to increase the lead to 3-0. Cody Lefrancois rounded out the scoring 1:50 later at 15:36.

Yarmouth went 1 for 4 on the powerplay while Amherst went 0 for 3.

Jocelyn Morrissette stopped all 22 shots he faced for the shutout victory while Andrew Flemming stopped 40 of 44 shots in the loss.

Game # 2 in this series takes place on Monday night at 7:30pm in Amherst.
