Fights, break-ins and a robbery
Yarmouth Town RCMP report
During Feb. 18-March 2, the Yarmouth Town RCMP Detachment received 103 calls for service.

This included 9 property damage/mischief, seven false alarms, three shoplifting, five 911 hang-ups, eight assaults, five Mental Health Act investigations, one robbery, one sexual assault investigation, three business break and enters, one residential break and enter, two traffic collisions, three drunk in public place and eight other Criminal Code.

The following is a summary of some of the calls for service the detachment received.

•Feb. 18, 2:59 p.m., received a call of an adult male shoplifter at Zellers.

•Feb. 19, 2:26 p.m., motor vehicle collision in the Yarmouth Mall parking lot, vehicle hit into parked vehicle when driver hit the gas instead of the brake, no charges laid.

•Feb. 19, 7:50 p.m., property damage, Vanguard office, glass door smashed, no entry gained into building.

•Feb. 19, 11:49 p.m., officers received a 911 call of an out-of-control fight in progress on Baker Street, officers attended, subjects arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and causing a disturbance.

•Feb. 21, 5:33 a.m., while on patrol on Argyle Street officers were approached and told that somone had just been robbed. Subject later arrested and charged with robbery.

•Feb. 21, 2:46 p.m., adult male shoplifter reported at Zellers.

•Feb. 22, 12:51 p.m., call of a possible industrial accident at Wal-Mart, employee fell of a ladder, detachment assisted Department of Labour, person suffered minor injuries.

•Feb. 22, 9:55 p.m., received a call from Haley Road that a dark-coloured lawn tractor was doing doughnuts in the snow on the street with no lights on. Officers located a driving go-cart. The driver was explained the off highway legislation and warned for his actions.

•Feb. 23, 4:42 p.m., received a 911 call from Horton Street of a possible break and enter to a vacant house, investigation continues.

•Feb. 23, 9:05 p.m., responded to a call of a vehicle hit and run at the Superstore parking lot. Vehicle hit was a 1998 Mercury Mystique.

•Feb. 23, 10:32 p.m., officers responded to a possible assault on Parade Street, officers attended and located and arrested one male near Parade and Pleasant streets who was extremely intoxicated.

•Feb. 24, 12:43 a.m., received a call of a possible fight at the Red Knight. Officers attended and located an intoxicated male.

•Feb. 26, 10:22 p.m., officers received a call via 911 of a possible fight in progress at Dooly’s, officers attended, individuals were outside and spoken to accordingly.

•Feb. 27, 2:31 p.m., call of property damage behind the Yarmouth Mall. The back window of a mall employee’s vehicle had been smashed, nothing taken from the vehicle.

•March 1, 1:32 p.m., received a call from Carleton Street of two snowmobiles driving around on the street, officers attended, subjects were gone upon arrival.

•March 1, 1:51 p.m., received a call of overnight property damage at Ellis Court. Vehicle had been ransacked, an iPod and change had been taken.
