Beehive bugged by community vandals

For the second time in two weeks, graffiti vandals left their unwanted mark on an Aylesford property.
Staff at the Beehive Adult Service Centre on Station Street in Aylesford first discovered graffiti on the main building and on a storage shed February 22.
Beehive administrator Cora Auclair said the staff’s first attempt to clean up the mess left behind by vandals was not 100 per cent successful.
“The pressure washer couldn’t get all the paint and grease off, so we are going to have to look at something else to do the job.”
The Beehive has previously experienced break-ins, but has never had to deal with vandalism of this nature. Outdoor security lighting was installed to discourage such activity, but Auclair said the most recent incident was confined to an isolated, unlit part of the property.
“It’s really sad,” she added. “We are a non-profit agency and money we should be spending on our programs we now have to spend on cleaning supplies.”
Auclair said she was not aware of reports of similar vandalism at an Aylesford seniors’ complex in the week prior to the Beehive incident.
