Yarmouth Mariners drop Saturday game to Amherst

The Amherst Ramblers (29-22-1-4) dumped the Yarmouth Mariners (41-11-3-1) 4-1 Saturday night in Amherst.

Andrew Oakley led the Ramblers with two goals and an assist with Matthew Squires collecting three assists.

After a scoreless first period, Oakley (powerplay) opened the scoring at 16:48 to give Amherst a 1-0 lead. Adam Chipman (powerplay, game winner) scored 1:35 later at 18:23 to extend the lead to 2-0 after the second period. Jordan Escott (powerplay) scored at 4:22 to increase the lead to 3-0. Oakley (powerplay, second goal of game) widened the lead to 4-0. Itan Chavira broke Flemming's bid for a shutout when he scored at 13:08 to get the Mariners on the board.

Amherst went 4 for 8 on the powerplay while Yarmouth went 0 for 7.

Andrew Flemming stopped 24 of 25 shots for the win while Jocelyn Morrissette stopped 29 of 33 shots in the loss.
