January 27 to February 2, 2008 continued COLLIER, Shelley Lynn - 27, Ardoise, Hants Co., passed away peacefully Monday, January 28, 2008, at home. Shelley was born on March 21, 1980, in Windsor and was a daughter of David (Pam) Collier and Deborah (Leonard Spencer) Horder. She is survived by partner, Jeffrey Crossley; newborn son, Kayden Crossley; siblings, Michelle (Aaron Lunn) Collier, Evan (Ashley Bonang) Collier, and Heidi Collier; nephew and niece, Arthur and Brooke; paternal grandmother, Norma Collier; maternal grandfather, George Horder; aunts, Karen, Brenda, Gina and Phyllis, and several cousins; in-laws, Pick and Doris Crossley. Shelley was predeceased by paternal grandfather, Neil Collier, and maternal grandmother, Agnes Horder. The proudest moment in Shelley’s life was becoming a new mom to son, Kayden. Shelley was loved by all who knew her and spent time around her. She worked for 10 years at J.W. Mason and Sons Ltd., and worked all of her life on the family farm, where she spent most of her days and nights with her Collier grandparents. Shelley also enjoyed operating all types of farm machinery. Arrangements for cremation were entrusted to Lohnes Funeral Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where the family received visitors 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, January 30. Funeral service was held 2 p.m. Thursday, January 31, in Lohnes Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Clarence Bungay officiating. A reception was held in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre immediately following the service, followed by a private family interment in South Rawdon Baptist Church Cemetery, South Rawdon. January 27 to February 2, 2008 continued Thelma Crowell – 86, of Orchard View Apartments, Berwick, formerly of Kentville and Wolfville, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at home. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Seymour “Poppy” and Florence “Gammy” (Sexton) Young. She was a hairstylist for over 30 years and worked out of her home. She had a love for plants and gardening and especially enjoyed animals. She is survived by her husband, Andrew, Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville; a daughter, Sheila Faulkner, Dartmouth; a son, Wayne (Glynis), Ottawa; nine grandchildren, Randall, Perry, Derrick, Andrew, Mark, Matthew, Candace, Christopher and Shona; nine great grandchildren, Ashley, Josh, Sarah, Michael, Jordan, Kailey, Evan, Stephanie and Kailey. She was predeceased by a daughter, Melda Horne. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville and there was no visitation by family request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 3, 2008 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Robert Billings officiated. January 27 to February 2, 2008 continued Lloyd, Elizabeth Iren -May 3, 1923 – January 30, 2008. It is with great sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of Libby on Wednesday, January 30, 2008. Predeceased by her husband Harry in September 2000, she is survived by sons Phillip and Richard, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Also her sisters Brenda, Kathleen, Evelyn, Florence and brother Karl, living in Nova Scotia. Born at Pleasant Point, Nova Scotia, she was the sixth child in a family of ten. She moved to Prince Rupert BC in 1943, to join Harry who was a commercial fisherman. Libby remained in the family home, until moving to Victoria in May of 2006. She enjoyed life with her family and friends and will be sadly missed. Her door was always open to share a meal and a game of cards. She will be remembered as a loving Mother, Grandmother and a loyal friend. A memorial service will be held at Sequoia Gardens Memorial, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria BC, on Monday February 4. Donations in her memory to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
January 27 to February 2, 2008 continued PHINNEY, LeBaron “Vaughn” - 68, of Lawrencetown formerly of Middleton, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at home. Born in Middleton he was the son of the late LeBaron “Vaughn” Sr. and Mary “Mamie” (Gesner) Phinney. Vaughn was a long time employee of the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission. In his early years, he had a special love for horses, especially his horse “Babe”. He was an outstanding athlete and an avid tennis player and loved track and field, hockey and rugby. He was often seen around exhibitions showing his goats. In later years Vaughn loved fishing and Bluegrass music. He is survived and will be sadly missed by his partner, Margaret Wynn, Lawrencetown; daughter, Andrea (Scott) Bishop, Kingston; son, Brett (Janet) Phinney, Antigonish; grandchildren, Brooklyn and Emily Bishop and Leo and Logan Phinney. He will also be sadly missed by Margaret’s daughters, Debbie (Rick) Pelton, Nictaux; Angela Wynn, Berwick and their daughters Amanda, Jessica, Amy and Kaylee. Visitation was held Friday, February 1, 2008 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448, where the funeral service was held 2:00PM, Saturday, February 2, 2008. Rev. Leon Langille officiated. Private family interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton. Special thank you to all the nurses and staff of the QEII Satellite Dialysis Unit, Berwick for their loving care and support. Loved grandmother of John, Tammy, Jackie, Wally, Garnet, Danny, Michael and Jason, and great grandmother to Jordan, Grace, Tyler, Megan, Brooke, Alex, Nicholas, Tia, Tracy and Steve. January 27 to February 2, 2008 continued LEVY, Margaret - 86, of Liverpool, died peacefully at home on January 29, surrounded by loved ones. She was a gentle spirit who was a friend to all in need and she lived life to the fullest, making every day count. She will be greatly missed by her long time companion Henry Hatcher; daughter, Janet Swansburg; sons, William (Sue) Levy, Doug (Lisa) Levy; brother, Everett (Freda) Goulden; seven grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren as well as many other extended family members. She was predeceased by her husband Warren Levy; brothers, Frank and William Goulden and sisters Joyce Thompson and Betty O’Laney. A celebration of Margaret’s life was held at Zion United Church, Liverpool, on Saturday, February 9th. Rev. Richard Bristo officiated. January 27 to February 2, 2008 continued Flora Bernice Murphy - 85, of Kentville, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer in her home. Born in Berwick, she was the daughter of the late Spurgeon and Ada (Winter) Jones. Mrs. Murphy was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Centreville Congregation. She enjoyed doing puzzles and always enjoyed people coming to visit her. She deeply loved her grandchildren. Flora wasn’t afraid of hard work. She will be sadly missed by her many family and friends. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor. Flora is survived by her loving husband, Phillip Murphy; son; Perley R. Palmer, Berwick; daughters, Marjorie M. Perry nee Palmer, Vancouver Island, B.C., Beatrice M. Warren nee Palmer, Eastford, Ct., U.S.A.; brother, Sonny, sisters, Edna & Audrey, 9 grandchildren & 9 great grandchildren. Besides her parents, Flora was predeceased by her 2 sons in infancy; brothers, Edward, Arnold, Allen and Roy Jones; sisters, Reta Chesley and Olive Lutz. Visitation for Mrs. Murphy will be held from 7-9 p.m. Friday February 1, 2008 from the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 5 Leverett Avenue, Kentville (902-678-2151).
