PERRY, Donna Marilyn, Clark’s Harbour, Shelburne Co., passed away Thursday, January 24, 2008, in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax. Born on April 17, 1947, in Roseway, she was a daughter of Mary (Anderson) Perry, Clark’s Harbour, and the late Keith Perry. She is survived by her son, Dale (Jennifer), Clark’s Harbour; brother, Michael (Bev), Ingomar; sister, Cordelia Perry, Halifax, and grandchildren, Christian and Joshua. She was predeceased by her brother, John, and sister, Judith. Special thanks to the nurses and doctors in 5A, the VG Site, QEII, Halifax, and to friends and family for their love and support during her illness. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed. Donna touched the lives of all who knew her. Her sense of humor will never be forgotten. Cremation has taken place. Catherine Mary “Kay” Saunders – 90, of Auburn, passed away Friday, January 25, 2008 in the North Hills Nursing Home, Granville Ferry. Born in Plympton, Digby Co., she was a daughter of the late George and Cynthia (Height) Amero. Kay was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Auburn for many years. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining in her home. Kay also enjoyed gardening and going to “The Brook” to fish. She is survived by her daughters, Beverley Baltzer, Port Williams; Beatrice (Eugene) Irvin and Darlene (Kevin) Bowe, both of Auburn; grandchildren, Shawn, Pamela, Timothy, Deborah, Vicki, Darrin, seven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, sister-in-law, Betty Amero and a very good friend, Arthur West, Aylesford. She was predeceased by her husband, Victor, daughter, Christine, brothers, Arnold and Kenneth; sisters, Bertha, Agnes, Alma and Lucy. Visitation was held 7-9 PM, Sunday, January 27, 2008 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448. The funeral service was held 2:00PM, Monday, January 28, 2008 in St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Auburn. Rev. Charles Bull officiated. Interment was in St. Mary’s Anglican Church Cemetery, Auburn. Leslie Frederick Day – 55, of Harbourville, Kings County, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his wife, Friday, January 25, 2008 at home, following a lengthy illness. Born in Markland, Newfoundland, he was a son of Mary Ann (Cameron) Day, Old Shop, Newfoundland and the late William Day. He is survived by his loving wife, Julia; three sisters, Rosemary (George) Farrell, Marystown, Newfoundland; Linda (Cyril) Piercey, Norman’s Cove, Newfoundland; Doreen (John) Hutchings, Whitbourne, Newfoundland; three brothers, Lewis (Ann), New Harbour, Newfoundland; John, Sudbury, Ontario; Winston (Jean), Old Shop; several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Nova Scotia and there was no visitation by family request. The funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2008 in the Salvation Army Citadel, New Harbour, Newfoundland, Major Blackler officiated. Dorothy V. Smith, 93, of Lehighton, PA, formerly of Bayonne, NJ, passed away Friday, January 25, 2008 at the Summit Blue Mtn. Health Systems, Lehighton, PA. She was the widow of George Thomas Smith who died in 1988. Born in Cape Negro, Nova Scotia she was the daughter of the late Lloyd & Florence (Nickerson) Swaine. Mrs. Smith was a seamstress for Bob White in Bayonne, NJ. She was a member of Christ Evangelical Free Church Lehighton, PA. Previously, she was a member of Bergen Point Community Church in Bayonne, NJ, where she served as Financial Secretary, Deaconess & a member of the Ladies Aids Society. She loved to write poetry & make wedding cakes. Survivors: Son, Brian Smith of Saylorsburg, PA, Daughter, D. Elaine Hughen of Lehighton, PA, Brother, Allan Swaine of Port LaTour, Nova Scotia, Grandchildren; Mark Johnson, Cheryl Monteleone, Jason Hughen & Jacquelyn Sylvan, Step-Grandchildren; Richard Jr., David and Robert Hughen and Carole Cailoa, five great-grandchildren & two great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by Sister, Hazel Lowe. Services: Funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Christ Evangelical Free Church Blakeslee Blvd. Dr. West Lehighton, PA 18235 with Reverend Greg Larsh officiating. Committal Service to be held at Moravian Cemetery Staten Island, NY on January 29, 2008. Schaeffer Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

McCULLOUGH, Ralph Wilfred, 85, of Riverdale, died Jan. 25, 2008, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Funeral Jan. 30 in Southville Church of Christ, with burial in the church cemetery.

WRIGHT, Robert Bruce, 58, of Petit de Grat, a native of Digby, died Jan. 25, 2008. Memorial service Feb. 1 in Our Lady of Assumption Church, Arichat.

Crowell, Randall Scott “Randy” - 46, LaBelle, Queens County, passed away peacefully after a brief and courageous battle with lung cancer at his home overlooking Ponhook Lake surrounded by his family on January 26, 2008 Randy had worked for 8 years as a 4th class stationary engineer and fuel handler for Brooklyn Power Corporation. Randy had a passion for anything mechanical from an early age and loved the hours he and his good friends spent in his garage. Randy also enjoyed fishing and boating on area lakes and rivers. Randy’s life was made complete when he and Karen were recently blessed with the birth of their daughter Rachel. Randy’s family was his greatest joy. He is survived by his wife, Karen; daughter, Rachel; mother, Barb (Jack) Galley; brothers, Richard (Jackie), Darryl (Kathleen); niece, Amy (Bryan Trochim). He was predeceased by his sister, Deborah Lee Crowell. A memorial service was held Tuesday January 29, 2008 in the Greenfield Baptist Church, Pastor Dennis Nickerson officiated. Burial followed in the Pine Rest Cemetery, Greenfield. A reception was held in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a Trust Fund for his daughter Rachel’s education in the name of “Karen Crowell in trust for Rachel Crowell”. Hubley, Edgar Morton - 82, died suddenly in Cape Breton on January 26, 2008. Edgar was born in Ragged Harbor, Port Medway on February 25, 1925. When Edgar was 13 he went away to work on a Norwegian boat, then on to the Merchant Marines during the last of the war years. He finished his career on the Great Lake Boats. He was a Certified Engineer. He moved back home and lived in Port Medway for the remainder of his years. Edgar is survived by numerous cousins. He was predeceased by many aunts and uncles. A Graveside service was held Wednesday, January 30th, 2008 Greenwood Cemetery, Port Medway. Rev. David Hatt officiated. Margaret Ann (nee Fisk) Jess - On Jan. 22, 2008 Margaret Jess passed away suddenly at the age of 62 years surrounded by her loving family. Margaret leaves to mourn her loving husband Allen (formerly of Port Williams), as well as her children Laura (Ian) Porter, Ken (Julie) Jess and Linda (Derek) Monk. She will also be greatly missed by her two grandchildren; Amanda Jess and Graham Jess, as well as her brother David (Mary Jane) Fisk and their children; Jennifer Fisk, and Darren (Celine) Fisk and a great nephew, Dylan and a great niece Quincy. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Margaret and Sam Fisk, as well as her younger brother; Ian Fisk. The funeral service took place at the First Baptist Church, Edmonton, on Mon. Jan. 28, 2008.
