Street Punishers at Privateer Days
The smell of burning rubber accompanied by the sound of roaring engines as motorcycles do stunts down Henry Hensey Drive is an idea that could become a reality at this year’s Privateer Days in Liverpool.
“It certainly is the consensus of council that this would be an interesting if not unique initiative,” said Region of Queens Mayor, John Leefe. “We welcome it.”

Custom Design Cycles Owner/Operator, Tony Roy made the proposal to council on Jan. 21.

Indicating he has already booked the Street Punishers, a group of stunt motorcyclists from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Roy said their act would provide entertainment for young adults during Privateer Days.

“I want to put on a good show for them and I want to take my time, my money to do this,” he told council.

He also plans to host a burn-out competition at his shop next to Whynot Services on White Point Road.

Street Punishment has performed in the past at Digby’s annual Wharf Rat Rally.

“I think they put on an awesome show,” added Roy.

Robert Trainor on behalf of the Privateer Days Commission went to the council meeting as well.

He let council know they were “100 per cent in favour of Tony’s project.”

Mayor Leefe said council agreed that it’s an excellent idea and a great opportunity for Privateer Days.

“We’ll be waiting now for a formal application,” from Tony Roy, he said.

Roy brought to council’s attention that black marks would be left on the pavement.

“They are not permanent,” said Mayor Leefe. “They eventually will go away sooner or later.

“What’s really essential here is we provide opportunity for an exciting and new type of entertainment that will attract new people into the community during Privateer Days and for those who traditionally attend, it’s something new for them to see as well,” he commented.
