Board recommends status quo for Queens representation
The South Shore Regional School Board is, with some minor changes, asking the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board to maintain the status quo for Queens County and Maitland Bridge representation on the board.
The review board can still reject the submission and reduce – or increase, although highly unlikely - the number of electoral district boundaries based on the variance of voters per representing member.

At a board meeting Jan. 28, members approved the following for submission to the Utility and Review board in response to the mandated review of electoral district boundaries, pursuant to Section 43 of the Education Act:

African Canadian Representation is provided by election of a Member to the South Shore Regional School Board by eligible voters in the Municipality of the District of Chester, the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg, the Town of Mahone Bay, the Town of Lunenburg, the Town of Bridgewater, the Region of Queens Municipality, and Maitland Bridge, Annapolis County.

First Nations’ Representation is provided by the appointment of a Member by the Minister of Education.

Electoral District 1 is comprised of Polling Districts 1, 2, and 3 in the Region of Queens Municipality.

Electoral District 2 is comprised of Polling Districts 4, 6, and 7, in the Region of Queens Municipality.

Electoral District 3 is comprised of Polling Districts 5, 8, and 9, in the Region of Queens Municipality and the Maitland Bridge, Annapolis County poll.

There are currently eleven elected and one appointed seats on the South Shore Regional School Board.

At present, Electoral District 1 is comprised of Polling Districts 1-4 in the Region of Queens Municipality.

Electoral District 2 is comprised of Polling Districts 5, 6, and 7 in the Region of Queens Municipality.

Electoral District 3 is comprised of Polling Districts 8 and 9 in the Region of Queens Municipality, and Maitland Bridge, Annapolis County.
