Parnell re-elected as Liverpool Fire Chief
Liverpool firefighters gathered on Jan. 3 for their regular monthly meeting, which was followed by the annual election of officers.
Steven Parnell, who has been an active department member for the last 15 years, serving as an officer for 10 of those years was elected to once again serve as the department's chief.
Chief Parnell moved up the ranks from Lieutenant, Captain, and Deputy Chief to his present role as Chief, a position he has held for the last five years. And, as he begins this new term of office, the members also elected an entire slate of officers to assist Chief Parnell to lead the department for the next 12 months.
The position of Deputy Chief was awarded to David Payzant, a member of the department for the past 11 years. Assistant Deputy Chief is Gary Thorburne, a 20-year veteran of the Liverpool Fire Department.
