Mersey House begins recordings with J.P. Cormier Trio
The Mersey House is hosting its first major recording and filming session Jan. 25 with renowned singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, J.P Cormier.
Hilda Chaison-Cormier and Darren McMullen are accompanying the multiple award-winning musician as part of the J.P Cormier Trio.

Mersey House co-owner, Michael Loveridge says EastLink is expected to film the show for an upcoming broadcast while Queens County sound engineer, Tim Feswick of Feswick Productions, which is partnering with Mersey House on the recording side of the business, is providing his expertise.

Loveridge adds Cormier plans to use some of the material on his next CD.

In an email release, he wrote, “I would ask that anyone that has an interest in music or Maritime artists come and support JP on the night and later hear your cheers and clapping hands on the CD.”

He describes the event as the beginning of a “new era” for Mersey House.

Loveridge is also proceeding with his previously announced Nova Scotia music download and CD site.

“It is anticipated that we will have at least one major artist a month here for the rest of the year and film each for later internet downloading.”

He is also working with other venues to establish a “Maritime Music Circuit,” a type of interactive data base service that “will enable Nova Scotia and artists from all over Canada to combine their efforts when touring into multiple locations. This will give both artist and venue greater economies of mass and variety.”

As a result of such initiatives, Loveridge adds he has been invited to lecture current Arts/Music course students at their new Nova Scotia Community College facility in Dartmouth.
