I hope everyone is being successful holding the colds and flu at bay. With our up and down temperatures, it’s a definite challenge.
Branden hasn’t been feeling very well lately, losing his voice and just feeling sick. My Dad hasn’t felt the greatest lately, either.
I guess a person needs to make sure to stay warm, rested and eat healthy. After that, it’s just luck.
Remember to be aware of any sports activities that the children are in and maybe go watch an event or two. By the time you read this, the QuickStart hockey teams will have had a tournament at the Acadia arena. It took place Jan. 26.
Dylan is one of the many children having fun and learning about skating and hockey. There will be another tournament later in the season as well. As soon as I know more about it, I’ll let you know. The tournament on the 26th was a last-minute notification. Branden is in hockey, too, but his tournament is on March break in Chester. It’s fun to watch how much they learn and do.
Just remember, parents, to let the children play – don’t stress them out.
The card party for Jan. 22 had 10 tables in attendance. Leo Spinney and Linda Dempsey won the prizes for men’s high and women’s high respectively. The low went to Eva Morine.
Hazel Boylen won the 50/50, Barb Bishop won the traveler prize and Don Woodworth won the door prize. Despite the bad weather, everyone had a great time.
I don’t have any birthdays to report this week. If there’s anyone of whom I’m unaware celebrating a special day, best wishes. Let me know about it and I’ll make note of it for next time.
Cassie Green has been staying with Doris Atwell for a few days after having eye surgery on the 21st. Take care, Cassie, and get well soon.
By the way, sorry for spelling your name wrong in the card party report. I will try to do better next time.
A long-time community member is in the hospital. Freda Long is at the Valley Regional in Kentville. Freda’s family and friends wish the best for her during her illness.
Don’t forget about the White Rock Community meeting being held tomorrow night, Jan. 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the White Rock Hall. Everyone is welcome to attend.
I hear they’re trying to start a youth group. Keep that in mind. The youth of this community should be more involved.
Anyway, that’s it for this week. Have a great week; stay warm, safe and happy.
