Baking bread in Greenfield
After moving to Greenfield in March 2007, Chris and Uli Weber started selling European bread out of the trunk of their vehicle but soon had to upgrade.
Making 16 different types of bread, Weber says, “We started to sell out of the trunk and now we have a trailer.”
After 19 years of business in Germany, the couple now bakes out of their home in Greenfield.
Weber says he and his wife wanted a more quiet life in Queens County.
Breads vary from Potato bread and Swabian Sweet bread to Pumpkin bread and Milk loaf.
Weber says they make mostly European bread but also Canadian bread as well.
“Our bread is made with fresh yeast and without baking soda,” notes Weber.
The prices per loaf start at $2 with the highest bread priced at $3.50.
He is on the road four days a week.
He spends Thursdays in Bridgewater before hitting Liverpool on Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Irving Station.
Weber then goes to Exit 5 off Highway 103 on Saturdays, then returns to Liverpool on Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
