Kings fire lines - as of Nov. 30
November 29 at 2:17 p.m., Berwick and District firefighters were called out to a mobile home fire on Douglas Ave. in Berwick. The fire was noticed by a child in a nearby home. There were no injuries reported and there was extensive damage to the back end of the home. The cause of the fire was undetermined. Berwick called Waterville to assist at the scene and fire units were at the location until 6:36 p.m.
November 30 at 2:38 p.m., Berwick responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of highways 360 and 221, north of Somerset. When firefighters arrived, it was determined there were no injuries. There was extensive damage to the car involved. A truck and wagon hauling vegetable oil and turnip was struck, creating a slippery mess on the road. There were no injuries as a result of the incident. The Department of Transportation was called to the scene to assist with clean-up. Fire crews assisted with traffic control and were cleared of the scene at 3:40 p.m.
December 1 at 2:19 p.m., Berwick responded to a single vehicle accident on Highway #1 in South Berwick. A car had lost control and rolled onto its roof. There were five occupants in the car, all transported to Valley Regional with minor injuries. Firefighters assisted EHS and controlled traffic. The road was cleared at 3:15 p.m.
Waterville and District Fire Department had a rather busy November. November 6 at 14:39, crews responded to a dryer fire at a residence on Highway 1 in Cambridge. Fortunately, the fire was quickly extinguished and damage confined to the dryer. Firefighters returned to the hall at 14:57.
November 11 at 8:50, crews responded in mutual aid to Kentville with Big Flow, the hose truck, a pumper and tanker for a barn fire in Billtown. Crews and equpment were back at 13:07.
November 14 at 22:13, there was a fire alarm at the Kings Rehab at 22:13. One pumper was dispatched and returned at 22:31. A training exercise at Twin Elms Apartments on Maple Street required a simulated alarm at 19:23. Crews cleared the exercise at 20:07. Also November 19 at 20:27, a silent alarm was received for a residence on Mill Street. Crews were free to return at 20:54.
November 27 at 18:56, firefighters were dispatched to provide mutual aid to Kentville with a pumper to stand in during a house fire in Port Williams. Equipment was back at 21:21.
November 29 at 14:32, Waterville provided mutual aid to Berwick during a mobile home fire. Crews and gear were back at 15:18.
Firefighters and the auxiliary will be very busy over the next couple of weeks catering to several Christmas parties.
