Considering the needs of employers
Queens County employers will gather Nov. 21 to learn about today’s changing workforce, hiring, branding a business and more at South Shore Opportunities Inc. in Liverpool.
South Shore Opportunities Director, Krista Harding says staff has been surveying employers in Queens County as a first step towards getting a “feel” for their needs.

They have already received over 30 responses, she says.

On Nov. 21 employers are welcome to attend “Employers in Queens” at 6 p.m.

The results of the survey will be presented, she adds.

Nancy Stabenow with Carrigan Partners Consulting will also attend the meeting.

Stabenow will guide participants through some things that are “prevalent” in today’s workforce, explains Harding.

She will speak about being an employer of choice, what older generation employees can bring to a business, branding a business along with rethinking whom employers should hire, the way they recruit, and the interview process.

From this meeting, Harding hopes some employers will want to participate and move forward so “we can become an amazing community” with connections between employers and employees.

She also hopes to get both employed and unemployed persons’ opinions of the employer situation in Queens County.

Harding plans to host a focus group between the two as well in hopes of developing an “employability program.”
