Police help sought by illegal immigrant

Annapolis County RCMP received an unusual call on October 17 at 9:38 p.m. An illegal immigrant called the RCMP to ask for assistance in leaving the country. The matter was referred to the Department of Immigration.

The police responded to a total of 84 calls for assistance during the week of October 15 through October 22. Among these calls were four false alarms; five motor vehicle accidents; five false 911s; and four domestic related matters.

Following are highlights of these calls:

-- October 15 at 12:49 p.m. Police received a complaint of threats uttered in Middleton.

-- October 15 at 1:46 p.m. Police were called to investigate break and enters into cottages on Milbury Lake.

-- October 15 at 3:48 p.m. Police were called to Carleton Corner after receiving a complaint that four males and two

females were fighting. One male was arrested for assaults that had taken place earlier that day.

-- October 15 at 4:07 p.m. Police received a report of a theft at a Middleton business.

-- October 15 at 8:32 p.m. Police were called to a two-vehicle collision in Margaretsville. No injuries were reported after a driver hit a parked car.

-- October 16 at 10:47 a.m. Police were called to Nictaux to investigate a complaint of uttering threats.

-- October 16 at 11:30 a.m. Police were called to Wilmot in response to a motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

-- October 16 at 5:14 p.m. Police were called to Cornwallis to investigate a report of threats uttered.

-- October 17 at 8:12 a.m. Police received a report of theft in Cornwallis after a quantity of wood was stolen.

-- October 17 at 11:14 a.m. Police were called to a motor vehicle accident on Gates Mountain Rd. No injuries were reported.

-- October 17 at 2:46 p.m. Police were called to Middleton after a brown wooden bench was reported missing. The bench disappeared after garbage collection and may have been picked up inadvertently during spring clean-up.

-- October 17 at 8:08 p.m. Police received a report of a break and enter in Nictaux.

-- October 18 at 11:48 a.m. Police received a complaint of mischief in Cornwallis.

-- October 18 at 2:53 p.m. Police received a report of dangerous driving in West Springhill after a transport truck that was traveling at a high speed had difficulty stopping for a school bus.

-- October 18 at 3:31 p.m. Police were called to Middleton to investigate a case of property damage.

-- October 18 at 5:45 p.m. Police were called to a traffic collision on the Highway 101 near Bridgetown. Minor injuries were reported.

-- October 18 at 8:46 p.m. Police received a complaint of threats from Middleton.

-- October 18 at 11:41 p.m. A Bridgetown resident reported a complaint of a breech of undertaking.

-- October 19 at 6:30 a.m. An impaired driver was pulled over on the 101 Highway near Centerlea.

-- October 19 at 7:58 a.m. A Middleton resident reported a break and enter into an outbuilding.

-- October 19 at 9:23 a.m. Police received a report of mischief from Forest Glade.

-- October 19 at 11:50 p.m. Police arrested an impaired driver near Lequille, after pulling over a driver whose vehicle’s license plate light was burnt out. The driver, who had two prior charges, failed the breathalyzer and was remanded to court.

-- October 20 at 1:05 p.m. Police received a report of a break and enter into a camp at Arlington East.

-- October 20 at 9:10 p.m. Police received a report that about six teenagers were screaming and running through the streets in Bridgetown.

-- October 20 at 11:46 p.m. Police received a report of a break and enter in progress in Wilmot. A person tried to gain entrance through a patio door, but escaped on foot.

-- October 21 at 00:32 a.m. A Parker’s Cove resident complained that fireworks had been aimed at his house.

-- October 21 at 1:51 p.m. A Lawrencetown resident complained that vehicles were racing up the street.

-- October 21 at 8:10 a.m. Police received a report of a break and enter into a Bridgetown church.

-- October 21 at 9:47 a.m. Police received a report of a break and enter into a municipal building in Bridgetown.

-- October 21 at 10:37 a.m. Police received a complaint that a Wilmot property had been hit by pumpkins and eggs. The offender was located and cleaned up the mess.

-- October 21 at 2:25 p.m. An Allain’s Creek resident reported a complaint of property damage.

-- October 21 at 10:42 Police were called to Middleton by the fire department to investigate a false alarm.

-- October 22 at 10:01 a.m. Police charged two dirt bike drivers in Middleton under the Off-Highway vehicles Act.
