While providing mutual aid during a massive blaze at Stage 2 Furniture and Appliance Warehouse by the railway tracks on Highway 358 in Greenwich Thursday evening, the Canning Fire Department was called to the scene of an apartment building fire in their own community.

Department spokesperson Scott Cruickshank said the apartment building fire occurred in a two and a half storey, four-unit structure on Main Street. Firefighters were able to confine the damage to a bedroom, bathroom and attic.

Wolfville firefighters responded to a chimney fire on Black River Road Monday night, Oct. 15 at 11:20 p.m.

Kentville Fire Chief Shawn Ripley said his department responded to two garbage fires in the south end of town last weekend. He said the individuals didn’t have burning permits and burning garbage is illegal anyway.

Kentville responded to a call from someone complaining about smoke coming from a chimney on Chester Avenue Wednesday, Oct. 17. The cause turned out to be a flooded furnace.
