This is the new South Queens Chamber of Commerce logo, which was designed by Greg Tutty. The chamber is currently working on some new projects for Queens County.
New logo and plans for South Queens Chamber of Commerce
The South Queens Chamber of Commerce has a brand new logo to represent its 40 members.
Co-chairs Kerry Morash and Bruce Inglis say establishing a logo was one of their first priorities.
They agreed the old logo needed to be “freshened” up.
With that “to do” out of the way, the chamber has a few upcoming projects to focus on.
After being inactive for quite some time, the chamber was re-established with help from Region of Queens Council members last February.
“I think we’ve built the enthusiasm and we’re ready to start doing things,” declared Inglis.
“We have a declining population and we definitely need some more jobs to come into Queens County,” says Morash. “So our job, as we see it, is to facilitate that.”
The chamber is looking at the immigration strategy and immigration program.
Another project in the works is the “beautification of Exit 19.”
Inglis says “we” do not do a good enough job of letting people know why they should turn off the highway here.
Whether the “beautification” will be done with signage or art is still up in the air, says Inglis.
Meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month at the Woodpile Café.
The public is welcome.
