Ninety-eight-year-old Muriel Christie has a special strategy for playing Skip-Bo.
“I hold back a lot until I get what I want,” she said.
Her approach earned her first in the Play & Learn Skipbo competition at the Shelburne County Senior’s Games held Sept. 9 – 15.
The Shag Harbour native now lives in Barrington, where she lives quite an active life – cooking most of her own meals, bakes and does her own laundry.
She plays cards whenever she gets a chance.
“I think it’s things like that that keep your brain active,” she said, adding that she just loves having company.
She also completes cryptograms and puzzles in the paper.
“How long do you think this interview will take,” she asked, ten minutes before she went out the door with her friend Helen Shand. They were on their way to a quilting bee in Shag Harbour.
