Police deal with a variety of thefts in busy week

Annapolis RCMP spent a busy week from September 7 at 8 a.m. to September 13 at 9 a.m. Among the calls for service were reported break and enters, and thefts of an assortment of items including apples from an orchard, money from a roadside stand, and scrap metal.

In total, RCMP handled 80 calls, including three false 911s, three domestic situations, two false alarms, and five traffic matters.

The weekly RCMP report doesn’t include information regarding incidents that involve sexual assault; calls under the Mental Health Act; or incidents of domestic violence.

Following are highlights of the week:

-- Sept 7, 8:20 a.m. Bridgetown. Police received a complaint of a dispute between neighbours in connection with enjoyment of property.

-- Sept. 7, 10:21 a.m. Lequille. Police received a report of speeding vehicles in Lequille and the Cape Road.

-- Sept. 7, 10:52 South Farmington. Police received a report of a motor vehicle accident. There were no injuries -- property damage only.

-- Sept. 7, 9 a.m. Annapolis West. Police received a report of threats uttered via email. Two parties accused each other.

-- Sept. 7, 1:20 p.m. Middleton. A mini motorcycle was reported driving on the streets in the area of Macdonald Museum, MRHS, and the old tennis courts. The driver was found and dealt with.

-- Sept. 7, 2:31 p.m. Keji. Theft of fire wood was reported. Police spoke to complainant and it turned out that somebody purchasing wood had not left enough money. The person was contacted and paid the rest.

-- Sept. 7, 6:23 p.m. Annapolis West. Police received a report of an Internet scam. A person received an email saying somebody close to them had put a hit out on the email recipient. The emailer claimed to be the 'hitman' but would not complete the 'hit' if they were given money. Police say this scam has been confirmed in other places.

-- Sept. 7, 8:46 p.m. Nictaux. Police received a report of an impaired driver. The driver was located. Police believe the 'impairment' was the effects of a medical issue, not alcohol.

-- Sept. 7, 11:45 p.m. Trout Lake. Police received a complaint of a Seadoo running without lights.

-- Sept. 8, 12:07 a.m. Middleton. Theft under $5,000 was discovered when RCMP checked a truck on Commercial Street. During the check, police discovered stolen Department of Transportation signs. A young male and two young females were involved and dealt with under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

-- Sept. 8, 2:48 a.m. Middleton. RCMP received a complaint of a theft of money from a residence.

-- Sept. 8, 8:37 a.m. Highway 101 at Bridgetown, Exit 20. Police received a report of littering. Garbage was coming off the back of a vehicle.

-- Sept. 8, 12 noon, Granville. Police received a report that threats were made over the Internet.

-- Sept. 8, 2:31 p.m. Bear River. Police received a complaint of a dog left in a vehicle with the windows barley down. An immediate patrol was made but the vehicle was gone and so was the complainant.

-- Sept. 8, 3:15 p.m. Wilmot. Police received a report of theft under $5000 at roadside stand. A money dish was taken.

-- Sept. 8, 4:30 p.;m. Cornwallis Park. Police received a report of theft of a weed trimmer.

-- Sept. 8, 7:28 p.m. Middleton. Police received a report of dirt bike driven dangerously near the community college. The driver was described as a young male.

-- Sept. 8, 7:31 p.m. Police received a complaint of two males drinking, urinating, and knocking over garbage behind a Middleton business. An immediate patrol was made and one male was arrested for being intoxicated in public. He was held over night. A second male was identified for future contact.

-- Sept. 8, 10:50 p.m. Bridgetown. Police received a complaint of a possible impaired driver. An immediate patrol was made but the vehicle was not located.

-- Sept. 8, 10:23 p.m. Torbrook. A caller reported damage to a garbage box that had been struck by an ATV.

-- Sept. 9, 12:50 a.m. Western Annapolis County. Police received a report that a vehicle caught on fire in driveway.

-- Sept. 9, 2:49 p.m. Middleton. Police received a report of a vehicle illegally parked in a handicap space. The caller wanted the vehicle ticketed.

-- Sept.9, 6 p.m. Upper Clements. Police received a complaint of verbal threats.

-- Sept. 10, 1:54 a.m. Margaretsville. Police received a complaint of damage to property. RCMP attended and one man was arrested and released the next day.

-- Sept. 10, 3:06 a.m. Port George. Police received a report of a single vehicle accident. Property damage was sustained but there were no injuries.

-- Sept. 10, 3:22 a.m. Cornwallis Park. A report was called in that a male and female were screaming. Police attended but the subjects of the complaint had left. All was quiet.

-- Sept. 10, 3:45 p.m. Wilmot. Police received a call that a brand new bicycle was found locked to telephone pole. The bar code still on it and the caller said it had been there for two weeks.

-- Sept. 10, Milford. 5:10 p.m. Police received a complaint of dangerous passing on Highway 8. An SUV passed a loaded logging truck on a double solid line.

-- Sept. 10, 7:08 p.m. Clementsvale. A motor vehicle accident was reported. A female was arrested for impaired driving and held in custody in Digby.

-- Sept. 10, 8:06 p.m. Granville Centre. Police received a report that a vehicle struck a deer. There was no damage to the vehicle.

-- Sept. 10, 9:04 p.m. West Paradise. A breach of probation was reported.

-- Sept. 11, 3:05 a.m. Highway 101 at Mary Jane Riley Road. During a routine vehicle check a driver could not provide proof of registration or insurance. The vehicle was towed.

-- Sept. 11, 9:07 a.m. Nictaux. Police received a complaint of an attempted break and enter. There was damage to a door.

-- Sept. 11, 11:28 a.m. Cornwallis. Police received a compliant of a break and enter into a residence.

-- Sept. 11, 11 a.m. Bridgetown. Police received a complaint that a woman and son were reported to have been running through a back yard, trying to egg a person's house.

-- Sept. 11, 3:50 p.m. Beaconsfield. Police received a complaint of assault.

-- Sept. 11, 9:05 p.m. Parkers Cove. Police, paramedics, and firefighters were called to the scene of a traffic accident. The vehicle was overturned. The female driver was extricated from the vehicle uninjured. There was heavy rain at the time of the crash.

--Sept. 12, 8:10 a.m. Lawrencetown. A business reported theft of metal. Cst. Fairfax is investigating and can be reached at 665-4481 if anyone has any information.

-- Sept. 12, 7:41 a.m. Port Royal. Police received a report of an abandoned vehicle. Police patrolled and found the vehicle had broken down.

-- Sept. 12, 12:33 p.m. Bridgetown. Policed received a report of attempted break and enter into a residence.

-- Sept. 12, 12:45 p.m. Bridgetown. Police received a complaint of a possible impaired driver. A patrol was made and the vehicle was located in Lawrencetown. The complaint was unfounded.

-- Sept. 12, 2:28 p.m. Paradise. Police received a complaint of a cow eating grass along the highway. The cow had hightailed it by time police arrived.

-- Sept. 12, 5:59 p.m. Wilmot. Police received a report of theft of apples from an orchard.

-- Sept. 12, 6:26 p.m. Annapolis West. Police received a report of a youth damaging a residence. Police attended and dealt with the youth.

-- Sept. 12, 7:35 p.m. Lequille. Police received a report of theft of a wallet.

-- Sept. 12, 10:16 p.m. Wilmot. Police responded to a complaint of intoxicated teens walking in the centre of the road.

-- Sept. 13, 12:50 a.m. Middleton Area. Police received a report of damage to property.

-- Sept. 13, 1:27 a.m. Middleton. A business report damage to a signpost.
