Youths are invited to join in on the fun Sunday morning, Aug. 17, when the 10th annual Windsor Kids’ Triathlon gets underway.
More than 100 energetic participants splash, ride and run through the streets of Windsor in the race.
Events take place at the Hants Aquatic Centre at 8 a.m. and wrap up around 1 p.m., with the pool opened up later to cool the participants off.
Registration and check-in for all age groups will be at the Hants County War Memorial Community Centre from 8-9 a.m.
To mark the 10th anniversary of this popular summer event, there will be special entertainment, fun activities, and a barbecue.
This year’s triathlon is open to children between the ages of three and 16 years, with varying race distances for five different age groups.
The philosophy of triathlon is to encourage fun, fitness, and participation. All athletes will be awarded with a finisher medal and a bag with some treats.
To keep the costs to a minimum (it costs $10 before Aug. 1, $15 between Aug. 2-15, and $20 after that) we receive support from various organizations and local businesses.
The best place to watch the event is from the transition area, which is between the Hants Aquatic Centre and the community centre. The race routes are still to be finalized due to some road improvements in the area.
Registration forms for this year’s event can be printed off online at www.trins.ca, filled out at the Windsor Town Hall, or by contacting race director Kevin Walsh at (902) 798-2355 (day), (902) 798-1117 (evening) or by e-mail at email@example.com.
Additional volunteers are also being sought and would be greatly appreciated. Contact Walsh at the aforementioned numbers to lend a hand.
