Kentville Marlins kick off 2014 season

The Kentville Marlins got their 2014 summer swim season underway with a July 6 meet in Lunenburg.

A total of 10 Kentville swimmers took part in the meet, finishing with 111 points for top finishes, good for 10th place out of the 11 teams taking part.

Jordan Keddy, age 10, placed first in a mixed freestyle kick event, and was also ninth in a 25-metre breaststroke participation swim.

Anneka VanFeggelen, 12, was third in the mixed freestyle kick and sixth in the 25-metre breaststroke participation event.

Veteran swimmer Chantel Graves, 17, had a strong meet, placing third in 200 and 400 freestyle and fourth in 100 breaststroke.

Haley Cross, 13, also had three top-10 swims, placing seventh in 100 breast and 400 free and ninth in 50 back.

Emma Jane Hockley, 11, had the other top-10 swim, a 10th-place in 200 freestyle. Hockey was also 11th in 50 breast and 13th in 40 free.

Madison Johnstone, 17, was 12th in 100 breast and 14th in 50 free. Emily Warren, 13, was 14th in both 50 back and 400 free.

A trio of nine-year-olds, Molly Warren, Caitlyn Cross and Luc VanFeggelen, also competed for the Marlins at the meet.
