A group of senior hockey players ranging in age from 60 to 75 years from the Windsor area recently completed their fourth successful season.

The group has been playing at the Hants Exhibition Arena throughout the fall and winter on Tuesday and Thursday mornings during non-peak arena rental times. Most of the players are retired or semi-retired but a few are still working.

As the popularity of the group has increased, organizer John Phillips is advising those interested in playing next season should register early as the first 20 skaters to commit to playing will have first grabs at a berth to play on a regular basis.

There will be some spots available for those wishing to play part-time.

The brand of hockey is akin to pond and shinny hockey and those participating come for fun, recreation and exercise.

There are no referees and the guys generally abide by the rules.

A number of players have come back after having hip and knee replacements and are finding getting back on the ice very therapeutic.
