The King’s-Edgehill School’s boys’ hockey team, under the direction of head coach and Acadia Sports Hall of Fame inductee Geoff MacLeod and his associate coach Sandy Forsythe, are travelling and playing hockey this season at a steady clip.

The first major tournament for KES came in North Sydney in early November at Memorial High's huge annual hockey tournament.  The private school made it to the playoff round before losing 4-3 to Riverview High in the championship game and having to settle for a bronze medal.

Then it was back to Windsor to host the highly successful 24th annual Birthplace of Hockey High School Hockey Tournament. KES did not make the playoffs, losing out on a playoff position by the slimmest of margins in a tie-breaking formula.

In early December, the team travelled to Tilton, New Hampshire for a tournament where they won one game and lost three. Tilton, situated near the state capital of Concord, has a population of 3,606 — just shy of Windsor's population of 3,811.  They lost a pair of games by the score of 2-0 and another by a 6-1 count to a high school from Manchester who dressed a compliment of 17 to 19 year old players. Their only win was a 6-5 victory over Kuper Academy.

They travelled to Moncton earlier this month for the annual Moncton High School Hockey Classic.

KES is now preparing for a trip to Germany.

“We will be in Germany for up to nine days and planning to play a number of games in that timeframe,” said Forsyth.

The assistant coach told the Journal the team would be visiting the South of Germany.

“Besides playing hockey, we will be visiting many historical areas as well as spending some time in the mountains,” said Forsyth.

He added, "I am confident that the trip will be excellent as far as hockey goes but the cultural events the boys will experience might prove to be even more important.”

He said he feels this will be the kind of trip that the hockey team, as well as the team staff, will never forget.

KES has a good mixture of student players on their 2013-14 team, some from other countries but also some from here in Windsor-West Hants. Local talent includes Seth Brison, Jabes Benedict, Cameron Wile, Dylan Riley, Michael Jachimowicz, and Anthony Corradini. Phil Miller, when he has been called upon, has played strong in nets for KES.

Just out of curosity and a conversation I had , I'm wondering who pays for the KES boys hockey team to travel to Germany, their parents or KES?
