The DRHS Mariners beat Bridgetown 8-5 in Bridgetown on Friday night, Dec. 6.
Digby Regional High School Mariners improved their record to 2 wins, 1 loss and 1 overtime loss with their second convincing win over the Bridgetown Trojans.
The Mariners beat Bridgetown 8-5 in Bridgetown on Friday night, Dec. 6.
Digby was leading 4-0 at the end of the first thanks to two goals from Chris Demaine, and one a piece from Nathan Janson and Ryan Doucette.
Digby Captain Myles Creighton made it 5-0 early in the second.
Digby was leading 7-2 at the end of the second – Demaine completed his hattrick and Noah Thomas scored.
Bridgetown scored three quick goals late in the third to come within two – and pulled their goalie in the final minute but Digby’s Alan Eaton scored an empty netter and Digby won 8-5.
Digby was sitting near the bottom of league standings but have only played four games –they now have three games in hand compared to most other teams and tonight’s win moves them into seventh ahead of Bridgetown, Middleton and Central Kings.
Digby plays again tomorrow – Saturday night, Dec. 7 in the Kentville Arena against the Horton Griffins at 7 p.m.
They have another game next Friday, Dec. 13 in Canning against North Kings.
They finally play at home again on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 6:30 p.m. They host the first-place Forest Heights Falcons of Chester Basin – who as of Friday night Dec. 6 had won all seven of their games so far this year.
Sunday, Dec. 15 the Mariners play their third game of the weekend, hosting the Avonview Avalanche at the Digby Arena at 1 p.m. Avon View is in fourth place with four wins and three losses.
