Baseball provincials starting today in Hantsport

The Nova Scotia Provincial Baseball Championships will be played this weekend in Hantsport and Sackville.

Five teams from the NSIBL will play in a five-team double knockout affair in Hantsport. Five teams from the Metro Intermediate Baseball League will duke it out in Sackville.

The Hantsport Shamrocks and Windsor Knights will open the local tournament at 5 p.m. Aug. 29. On Saturday, Aug. 30, at 9 a.m. the Noel Road Blue Jays and Pictou County Albions will play followed by an 11:30 a.m. game between the Yarmouth Gateways and the winner of the previously played Hantsport-Windsor game.

Play will continue through to late Sunday afternoon, with the championship game slated for either 2 p.m. or 4:30 p.m.

The winner of the Hantsport tournament will stay in Hantsport for a sudden-death provincial championship game at 1 p.m. on Labour Day against the winner of the five-team Metro tournament.
