The White Rock Rockies are gearing up for playoffs after putting on a strong performance in St. Croix Tuesday night, Aug. 19.

The Rockies downed the visiting East Hants Charros 6-0 in the first game of a doubleheader, followed by an 18-6 triumph in Game 2.

In the first game, the Rockies' top pitcher Justin Schofield threw a one-hitter and struck out 16. The hometown team lead 1-0 after the first, and added one run in both the second and fourth innings before adding two runs in the sixth.

In the second game, which was a high-scoring affair, the Rockies started off the first inning with a 7-2 lead and didn't look back. They added one run in both the second and fifth innings, added two in the sixth inning, and exploded again for another seven to finish up the scoring.

The Rockies are a men's fast pitch softball team that plays in the eight-team Shooters Fastpitch League, which showcases some of Atlantic Canada's best softball talent.
