Stingrays down Trojans in softball opener

Saint Mary’s Bay Academy senior boys’ softball team opened their season with a win over the visiting Bridgetown Trojans.

The Stingrays downed the Trojans 18-11 at the Weymouth Cricket Field on Wednesday, May 7.

Dylan Cormier was solid on the mound for the Stingrays as he pitched the full six and a half innings for the home victory.

Leading the offence for the Stingrays was Byron Mullen with two home runs and a triple. MacKenzie Mullen also went four for four with two home runs. 

Coach Nessim Hanna felt the team played a good opening match and gave high praise for their effort.

“The team did well for their opening game and it was good to get that first victory,” said Hanna. “The Stingrays were appreciative for the fan support to cheer them on.”
