The Gateways are planning to hold their first outdoor practice of the year Sunday, April 27, at 1 p.m. at Gateway Park as the team prepares for the 2014 Nova Scotia Intermediate Baseball League season.

The Gateways are slated to open the 2014 regular season Sunday, May 18, at home with a doubleheader against Windsor.

Keith Bridgeo will be the Gateways’ head coach this year.

Jim Friss will return to the team this year and will serve as assistant coach, starting the first of June, Bridgeo said.

Allan Surette has agreed to help with the team in May, Bridgeo added.

Besides Yarmouth and Windsor, this year the intermediate league includes teams representing Pictou County, Noel Road, Kennetcook, Hantsport and Shelburne County.

The Gateways are scheduled to play at home again Saturday, May 24, against Kennetcook and the Yarmouth team will play at Windsor Sunday, June 1. These too are doubleheaders.
