Anderson nets PP winner in 3-2 victory over Guelph

The Acadia hockey Axemen got the seond half of their season off to a positive start with a 3-2 exhibition win over Guelph Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 31 in Wolfville.

Dylan Anderson's power play goal at 6:17 of the third period broke a 2-2 tie and stood up as the game-winner.

Joe Gaynor had a goal and two assists for the Axemen, and was awarded the game's first star. Leo Jenner had Acadia's other goal.

Brett Appio, on the power play, and Jordan Mock scored for the Gryphons.

Final shots on goal were 36-27 in favour of the Axemen.

The Axemen resume the AUHC regular season with a pair of road games this weekend. Acadia is at St. Thomas Jan. 3 and at UPEI Jan. 4 before returning home to face Saint Mary's Jan. 10.

The Axemen begin the second half first in the conference with an 11-1-2 record for 24 points, and third in the CIS national rankings.
