Members of Northville Farm Heritage Centre are planning their annual Harvest Festival and Ox Pull on Aug. 31.
A crop of oats will be harvested with a horse-drawn McCormick reaper, as in the olden days. After lunch, some of the oats will be run through an antique threshing machine to separate the grain from the straw.
Back again this year is the popular ox pull. Last year, there were 41 teams in the pull.
There will also be a baking competition and a produce competition, among other events. All ages are welcome to take part. Ribbons and prizes will be awarded. Entries must be in before 12:30 p.m.
The popular “Name that tool” contest will be continued, with a display of antique tools that need identification.
For children, there will be face painting, a fish pond, a fur and feathers show, games booths, and other fun stuff. All children’s competitions begin at noon.
Admission is by freewill donation.
