Hants County residents are shoveling out after a massive snowstorm hit the region yesterday, March 26.

The Province of Nova Scotia received 20-40 centimetres of snow during the 24-hour period, with a high of -4 C reached in the afternoon.

The snow began falling in the morning and continued throughout the afternoon and into the night, with the winds picking up in the early afternoon.

Winds reached a high of 102 kilometres per hour, and continued blowing throughout the night.

Environment Canada meteorologist Tracey Talbot said the storm extended into P.E.I, southeastern parts of New Brunswick and Newfoundland.
