Although a former Acadia student managed to make it to the semifinals in the snowboard halfpipe competition, Alexandra Duckworth wasn't able to secure a berth in the finals at Sochi.

Duckworth finished 11th in the 12-person semifinals, and only the top six qualified for the final. Duckworth fell at the end of both her runs in the semifinal round.

The other Canadian in the competition, Katie Tsuyuki, finished seventh and also did not qualify for the tinal.

Duckworth is a Lunenburg County native who began her training and her competitive snowboarding career at Ski Martock, near Windsor.
