Canning firefighters made a special rescue Dec. 26.

Firefighters were paged around 2:45 p.m. to rescue a collie who had fallen over a cliff on Gospel Road in Arlington.

The collie had fallen about 15 feet over an embankment. The conditions were quite icy at the time, a department spokesperson said.

The rope rescue team from Waterville and New Minas were called in on standby, but Canning firefighters were able to tie off and get the dog.

“He was fine, everybody was very happy.”
