The generosity of the people in the Annapolis Valley was evident during the fourth annual Sobeys Fill the Food Bank campaign.
Local Sobeys, Needs and Foodland locations joined together with the Middleton distribution centre during the two-week campaign and raised $15,189 in support of food banks in Annapolis, Kings and Hants counties.
Across Atlantic Canada, Sobeys’ network of more than 300 stores, distribution centres and corporate offices raised a total of $539,560.
“We’re so proud to have our customers and staff rally around this effort and support our local food banks,” says Lori Graham, store operator at Foodland in Kentville. “The people in the Valley demonstrate just how generous they are time and again, and Fill the Food Bank is certainly no exception.”
All food and funds raised by the stores support their local food banks.
“As a grocery retailer, we are committed to the fight against hunger every day,” says Peter Doucette, general manager, Sobeys Atlantic. “Ensuring people have healthy, wholesome meals to feed their families is important to the company and to our employees. Fill the Food Bank is another way we support our local food banks and acknowledge the important work they do.”
