A crowd was on hand to cheer on Georgina Hiltz as she handed off the Special Olympics torch to Pam Olmstead in Waterville on June 5 during the Michelin-hosted torch parade.

Day one of the Michelin-hosted torch run parades kicked off from the Michelin plant in Waterville on June 5.

During today’s parade Michelin Waterville employees, retirees, relatives, friends, teachers and students joined Special Olympic athletes and special needs individuals on a westward trek along highway one to Kingston to help promote the Nova Scotia games, which take place June 20, 21 and 22, in Antigonish.

The second leg of the parade, which also starts from the plant located off Randolph Road in Waterville, will venture east along highway one to Wolfville on June 6 beginning at 9 a.m.

Michelin sites in Granton and Bridgewater are also hosting torch runs on June 5 and 19 respectively.
