Robert Roech Chan.
Police say a warrant for a man wanted in relation to a Halifax abduction case has been extended to the entire country.
Robert Roech Chan, a 21-year-old from Halifax, had an Atlantic-wide warrant issued against him last week. But police now believe Chan may have left Atlantic Canada and, because of that, a Canada-wide warrant was issued on Tuesday.
Police consider Chan armed and dangerous, and are warning members of the public not to approach him. He is described as a black man, six foot one, weighing 170 pounds, with short black hair and brown eyes.
Chan is facing nine weapon-related charges in relation to the alleged abduction, as well as aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, kidnapping, unlawful confinement, uttering threats, extortion and robbery.
On March 2, police responded lto a call from a home on McAlpine Avenue in Halifax by a 19-year-old man claiming to be held against his will.
The man made his way out of the residence to waiting officers and was taken to the hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
As well, police have arrested and charged 20-year-old Daniel Angus Ryan. An Atlantic-wide warrant was also issued against Ryan last week. He was taken into custody a couple of days later.
