Evergreen Theatre in Margartesville is hosting its annual dinner-concert gala March 1.
The evening features a delicious Moroccan meal, with bluegrass and gypsy-jazz performances, and that warm fuzzy feeling that comes from supporting the Evergreen, all for a mere fifty bucks!
Besides attending the Gala you will also be invited to at least two other shows this season (and most probably more) at no cost, as well as receiving other membership benefits (which we haven't decided on yet).
The menu features Chicken Tagine, an exotically spiced Mediterranean chicken-vegetable braise (with a fiery harissa on the side for those who like it hot) served over coucous and accompanied by a carrot salad and anise scented Moroccan bread.
Wine and beer will be available at the bar.
Then enjoy Wine Hardt - Django Uncorked. This new acoustic-jazz project based out of Wolfville brings together five musicians with a shared passion for fine red wine and Gypsy Jazz.
Together they create an infectious groove of upbeat tunes based on the melodies of the inimitable Django Reinhardt.‚Ä® The group consists of Nicholas Tipney and Jesse Potter on guitars, Amy Lounder on violin, Cailun Campbell on upright bass and Bruno Allard on drums.‚Ä® ‚Ä®
Stirred into the mix is a fresh blend of originals and covers of hot swing classics such as ‚ÄúLady Be Good‚ÄĚ and ‚ÄúCaravan.‚ÄĚ‚Ä® ‚Ä®So grab your beret and a baguette and come experience the music of 1930‚Äôs Paris!‚Ä®
Opening Act Darrin Beaton

Darrin has played in the Valley for quite a few years with groups such as Spare Parts and Bluegrass Tradition
In 2011 he was named the Bluegrass Association's Guitarist of the Year. He will be accompanied by Carl Vroom

Evergreen Renovation Project

As you probably know by now the Evergreen is embarking on an ambitious plan to add a major addition to the building that will contain washrooms and much more. Full details of these plans will be revealed at the Gala.
