The Town of Shelburne is searching once again for the perfect place to put a weather station.
They have already had two prospective sites shot down from the province but town CAO Dylan Heide thinks the third time will be the charm.
“Initially we didn’t have the guidelines for our proposed site,” he said. The first suggestion was at the marine terminal. The second prospective site was planned too close to a landfill.
Hopefully the third proposed site would be the right one, he said.
He explained a new weather station is needed becase when a person looks up Shelburne weather, they are getting the Baccaro weather station.
“It is very inaccurate to Shelburne’s climate,” said Heide. “Usually it is five to 10 degrees cooler than in town.”
He said it could have an impact on people outside of the area as well.
“We don’t want people who are considering visiting or moving to Shelburne to think we have colder, windier weather.”
Once the town can get an appropriate spot to place the station they will have one put in place.
