With the 2014 M&M Meat Shops Canadian Junior Curling Championships rapidly approaching, the South Queens Chamber of Commerce has teamed up with the Host Committee for their first Meet & Greet of the year at Queens Place Emera Centre on Thursday Jan. 9 from 5-7 p.m. in the Community Room.
Chamber Members and the community will get the latest in what to expect when the Nation arrives in Liverpool.
With Teams starting to arrive on Jan. 16 and the Championship kicking off Jan. 18, Chamber President Barry Tomalin says timing was perfect for the first Meet & Greet of the year for Members.
“The Championship Host Committee has been diligent and strategic in their efforts to ensure our businesses and community at large has been integrated into their planning ensuring they are well prepared to welcome the Nation. This ‘Pep Rally’ will showcase the efforts of the community, a rundown of the day-by-day events and give us all a first-hand account of what to expect, I can’t think of a better way to kick off 2014,” says Tomalin.
Chairman Greg Thorbourne says his team is excited to celebrate the efforts and plans of so many during the Pep Rally and Meet and Greet.
“On the eve of the Nations arrival, our Host Committee wants to ensure everyone is an ambassador for the Championship and our Community. The 28 Teams are coming to compete, and while the crowd of some 2,000 family members and spectators will come for the curling, they will stay for the Championship Festival and return for future visits based on the reception and experience they have. We welcome the opportunity to partner with the Chamber to share everything you need to know about the 2014 M&M Meat Shops Canadian Junior Curling Championships” says Thorbourne.
