Hunting season appears to have pushed a number of deer out onto county highways.

On Nov. 9, a car hit a deer on Highway 101, near Coldbrook.

The following day, a vehicle encountered a deer in Cambridge at 9:35 a.m.

On Nov. 13, two cars hit two deer at the same time on Highway 101 near Berwick. The incidents occurred at 5:28 p.m.

Later, a vehicle rammed a deer at Chipman Corner. Police had to put the animal down.

"Hunting season appears to have pushed a number of deer out onto county highways." Hunting does not push the deer into highways, etc. Deer hunting season falls during the time when deer are in the "rutt" or mating season. Deer are more mobile during this time. Males are persueing females to mate with them. This is why there are so many more sigthings and accidents with deer during this season...not because there are people hunting them.
