Angel Kelley is driving in style after sharing a lotto win with four others at the Windsor Elms Village long-term care home in Falmouth.

Kelley, a resident of Newport Station, was among a group of five people — three staff and two residents — at the Elms that struck it lucky with Lotto 6/49 May 31.

“I was more stunned than anything,” said Kelley, thinking back to the day she heard the news.

Kelley’s husband, David, was mowing the lawn when he heard about the big win.

“He said, ‘Well, that’s good — my wallet’s empty.’ I said, ‘Not like it’s going in your wallet anyway,’” she recalled with a laugh.

Kelley said a colleague was shopping at the grocery store when she learned the group’s ticket won $141,425.

The winners have since collected about $28,000 each.

“It just doesn’t seem real,” said Kelley.

Kelley bought a new-to-her Toyota Rav4 and she plans to finally purchase something that will make it easier to clear snow out of her long driveway.

Kelley, a residential support assistant at the Windsor Elms Village, said the group that splits on Lotto tickets used to be a lot larger, but several people stopped participating when it seemed the cost of purchasing tickets wasn’t yielding much return.

In light of the group striking lucky, Kelley plans on buying tickets “faithfully now.”

Anne Parks, a Windsor Elms Village employee, discovered the group had a winning ticket. She had the enviable duty of sharing the good news with fellow winners, who were in disbelief.

“It was a wonderful experience,” she said, in a prepared statement released by the Atlantic Lottery Corporation.

Some are saving their winnings until they know exactly what to do with it, a few are spreading the wealth to family and friends and others are thinking about new electronics, renovations or car parts.

The winning ticket was sold at the Circle K in Falmouth.
