The Uniacke Firefighters’ Fair is fast approaching.
The annual event kicks off June 20, at 6:30 p.m., with the opening of the fairgrounds. There will be large inflatable bounce kingdoms for the kids, games, a canteen and several activities for folks of all ages to enjoy.
“We will end the night with our amazing fireworks display at dusk,” said Shawn Darby, a captain with the fire department.
Some new events this year include Hypersphere, Bungee Run, Adrenaline Rush, a basketball competition and live music with TJ King.
The first annual Firefighter 5K Fun Run, open to walkers, joggers and runners of all ages, starts at 8:30 a.m. June 21. Participants are required to preregister by emailing email@example.com.
“Our parade will begin Saturday morning soon after the run is over at 11 a.m.,” said Darby. “Once the parade is finished, the fairgrounds will open up again for the day with our full canteen, all day bingo, games and large inflatables.”
A homemade supper (for a freewill offering) will be served up from 4-6 p.m.; a dance featuring music provided by DJ Smokey will follow from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tickets for the dance, costing $10 each, can be purchased at the Uniacke Fire Hall Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or by contacting Trish Raymakers at (902) 866-2797 or Stacey Huntley at (902) 880-5689.
“Tickets will not be available at the door,” said Darby.
The proceeds raised at the fair events will be used to purchase equipment for the Uniacke and District Volunteer Fire Department. www.uniackefire.ca for more information.
